Position:
The Automation Engineer for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) will play a crucial role in developing a Power Management System tailored for Energy Storage Solutions. Key responsibilities include:

- Assessing control software and system hardware requirements based on current market trends and grid code specifications.
- Creating standardized solutions for grid-scale applications by designing execution sequences, application parameters, and control block diagrams, followed by facilitating software implementation for:

  • Volt-VAR Compensation Mode
  • Dynamic Transfer
  • Frequency Compensation Mode
  • Black Start
  • Islanded Operation
  • SCADA/HMI System development for Energy Storage Systems.
Required Skills:
  • Proficient in programming networked PLC systems at Levels 0 and 1.
  • Experience with IEC Automation is advantageous, particularly with ISaGRAPH or CODESYS.
  • Familiarity with Power Management Systems (PMS) is a plus.
  • Experience in programming large SCADA/HMI systems, managing 10k to 20k tags.
  • Knowledge of Wonderware programming is beneficial.
  • Understanding of industrial networks and protocols such as MODBUS TCP and ENET IP.
  • Experience with grid-scale energy storage or solar inverters, including system applications and configurations.
  • Familiarity with battery systems applications, including C rate, SOC, BMS communication protocols, and round trip efficiency.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Demonstrated commitment and responsiveness.
Education and Licensing:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Master’s degree (MSEE) preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
Experience Requirements:
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in automation design for utility-scale renewable energy EPC projects.
  • This role may require domestic and international travel, approximately 20% of the time.
