The Nursing Supervisor at the Multnomah County Detention Center oversees daily operations and care coordination for adults in custody (AIC). This role requires independent work, adherence to clinical and program guidelines, and effective supervision, direction, coordination, evaluation, and participation in Corrections Health services. The position demands critical thinking, nursing expertise, collaborative communication, management skills, initiative, and a readiness to accept on-call responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, and review the work of nursing and healthcare staff involved in direct care of AICs. Conduct direct observations of practice, skills, AIC interactions, and review staff documentation. Provide coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions for direct reports based on performance. Collaborate with nursing and administrative leadership to ensure continuity of care and compliance with licensure and practice regulations. Ensure the implementation of evidence-based interventions in the care of AICs. Maintain compliance with health department guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards, including national, state, and regional review processes. Review applications, conduct interviews, and hire personnel in accordance with Human Resources regulations. Facilitate appropriate training and coaching for new staff, on-call staff, and students. Address inquiries and provide information to the public. Attend department and interagency meetings related to assigned programs and services; assist in budget preparation and administration with the Nursing Manager. Collaborate with leadership on suggested changes, updates, improvements, and policy and procedure development. Conduct personal one-on-one discussions with each direct report to explore skills or service areas of interest and available educational opportunities. Prepare agendas and conduct staff meetings; draft memos, letters, reports, notices, forms, and procedural guidelines in conjunction with the Nursing Manager.Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills:
License to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Oregon. One (1) to four (4) years of experience; BLS/CPR certification required. Must pass a Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Background Check.Other:
