Job Summary

We are seeking a part-time Instructor of Medical Assisting and Allied Health Programs to join our team at Central Oregon Community College (COCC). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction in Medical Assisting and Allied Health classes, directing student discussion, and evaluating student performance in the classroom, lab, or practicum.

About the Role

The Part-time Instructor will provide instruction in Medical Assisting and Allied Health courses in classroom, remote, or online delivery mode using established course outcomes. This includes providing individual conference time to guide and evaluate student progress. Teaching assignments may include courses taught during the day and/or evening, classes taught on any of the four campuses COCC serves, by interactive video chat technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction in Medical Assisting and Allied Health courses in classroom, remote, or online delivery mode using established course outcomes.
  • Direct student discussion and evaluate student performance in the classroom, lab, or practicum.
  • Provide individual conference time to guide and evaluate student progress.
  • Serve as a professional role model and resources person for students.
  • Participate in lab set up, inventory supply, and equipment maintenance as directed by the Program Director.
  • Work with appropriate College personnel to write proposals for program funds or prepare documentation for accreditation requirements.
  • Assist with program outreach and cooperate with the Business Department efforts to revise and standardize curricula for these classes.
  • Attend regular trainings as scheduled by the department or College.
  • Perform other essential duties and tasks specific to each location, as assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree.
  • Must be current and competent in the MAERB Core Curriculum objectives included in their assigned teaching, as evidenced by education and/or experience.
  • Completion of a minimum number of contact hours in instruction in educational theory and techniques to meet MAERB and CAAHEP requirements prior to assignment.
  • Two years of recent clinical or higher educational experience related to the position in question.
  • Must meet MAERB criteria to teach and evaluate outcomes in assigned areas.
  • Credentialing specified below or one or more of the following RN, LPN, APN, PA, or MD for core program classes.
  • Credentialed in good standing in medical assisting by an organization whose credentialing exam is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for medical assistants.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position is estimated to be around $49,000-$60,000 per year, based on the location and industry standards. COCC offers a range of benefits, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
