About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our Surgery Department at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our doctors and surgery technicians in their duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with surgical procedures, including preparation and setup, circulating, and cleaning and disinfecting of surgical suites and pre-op areas.
  • Support the recovery of anesthetized patients and assist with radiographs, blood draws, catheter placement, and patient positioning in the OR.
  • Set up anesthesia machines, fill isoflurane, and change soda lime granules as needed.
  • Assist with bandage changes, appointment needs, and client communication, including scheduling appointments and patient check-ins.

Requirements:

  • Experience working as a Veterinary Assistant, AVA Certification, and confidence in surgery duties preferred.
  • Ability to provide empathy, comfort, and unparalleled nursing care to all patients and their owners.
  • Positive outlook, ability to work in a highly collaborative environment, and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to deliver exceptional client service.
