Job Summary

As a key member of the Corewell Health team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital's refrigeration, air conditioning, and HVAC systems. We are seeking a skilled and experienced professional to join our team as an HVAC Mechanic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair commercial, refrigeration, and HVAC systems according to blueprints and engineering specifications.
  • Diagnose problems, repair defects, and perform preventive maintenance on commercial, refrigeration, and HVAC systems.
  • Service and maintain air conditioning, refrigeration, and mechanical systems, including disassembling units for repair, performing chiller maintenance, and testing and rebuilding vacuum pumps, damper motors, water, and refrigeration coils.
  • Work with components in air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation distribution, and mechanical systems, and read, interpret, and generate sequence of operation for HVAC equipment and systems.
  • Read and utilize DDC programming code, perform test and balance work, and repair malfunctioning equipment, replace defective parts as necessary, and complete preventive maintenance.
  • Installs, removes, stores, and records specific location of all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment in the hospital.
  • Service and maintain thermostats, VAV boxes, TECs, lab ventilation equipment, and fan coil units.
Requirements
  • A level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of a high school diploma program or GED and completion of a vocational training program.
  • A minimum of three years' experience with HVAC equipment experience.
  • General knowledge of welding, soldering, braising, basic electronics, plumbing, and mechanics.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration principles and the ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
