We are looking for a qualified individual to fill the role of Mechanical Engineer specializing in HVAC. The chosen candidate will be tasked with defining the scope and criteria for, as well as supervising the execution of, significant capital enhancement projects across a vast portfolio of commercial properties. This role will also encompass the management and maintenance of critical building systems and infrastructure within the portfolio, providing technical guidance and oversight as necessary. Responsibilities include preparing analyses for repair versus replacement, managing technology applications, directing external contractors, and ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion of all capital projects while adhering to municipal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research, design, procure, and oversee the installation of HVAC mechanical systems to fulfill client specifications for various projects.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive quotes detailing project costs and timelines in alignment with established deadlines.
  • Consult on HVAC system and equipment design across diverse projects, collaborating with fellow engineers, project managers, and HVAC technicians to refine design parameters.
  • Evaluate HVAC systems and equipment to identify inefficiencies or issues, proposing solutions to enhance performance and operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with building automation and control systems, including Tridium and Niagara.
  • Engage directly with clients, service managers, and property managers to comprehend project needs, objectives, design specifications, and operational contexts for assessing costs and feasibility of new HVAC installations.
  • Lead project coordination efforts among service managers, property managers, and service teams throughout all project phases.
  • Determine specifications for facilities and equipment.
  • Analyze project expenses and formulate budgets.
  • Develop capital improvement initiatives and negotiate related contracts.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance schedules and activities for infrastructure and equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards.
  • Compile reports and compliance documentation.
  • Collaborate with Property Managers to guarantee effective property operations and timely completion of initiatives across the portfolio.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities engineering or a comparable role.
  • Extensive knowledge of physical maintenance, particularly HVAC systems, building automation systems, and HVAC controls.
  • Proven experience in team leadership and management.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and building codes.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Project management expertise.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive mindset with exceptional execution capabilities and a leadership approach.
  • Strong work ethic complemented by professional demeanor and communication skills.
