Your Role as a Mammography Specialist
As a Registered Mammography Technologist, you will be responsible for conducting mammography screenings, diagnostic assessments, and interventional procedures. Your expertise will be vital in delivering high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review mammography requests and determine the appropriate exams needed.
- Position patients accurately and operate mammography equipment to capture high-quality images.
- Evaluate processed images for quality assurance and identify the need for additional imaging.
- Educate patients about procedures and equipment to ensure their understanding and cooperation.
- Maintain patient safety and comfort throughout the examination process.
- Manage the acquisition, archiving, and transmission of images while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Perform routine equipment checks and report any malfunctions promptly.
- Ensure exam rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and linens.
- Provide mentorship and training to new staff and students.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development through in-service programs and professional affiliations.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- A degree from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Certification as a Registered Technologist by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in good standing.
- Certification in Mammography (R.T.(R)(M)(ARRT)) and current state licensure.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- A minimum of one year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist is preferred.
- Successful completion of 40 hours of mammography training.
Physical and Personal Requirements:
This position requires:
- The ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Capability to lift or assist patients of varying weights and manipulate equipment.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
