Building Automation Controls Specialist

We are excited to present a direct placement opportunity with Insight Global.
Program Overview: This initiative involves the modernization of a building's control systems, transitioning from pneumatic systems to Direct Digital Control (DDC). This role is specifically focused on service and preventative maintenance, representing a new addition to our team.
As part of a long-term program supporting a significant federal facility, this project aims to achieve substantial reductions in energy consumption by 42%, water usage by 50%, and greenhouse gas emissions by over 20,000 tons annually.
Position Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, installations, commissioning, point-to-point checkouts, calibrations, troubleshooting, and replacements of HVAC control systems and building automation systems with minimal supervision. This includes air handling units, central plant chilled water and hot water systems, metering, and terminal units (such as VAVs and FCUs).
- Work collaboratively with the on-site Measurement and Verification Engineer to proactively identify and resolve issues impacting energy efficiency. This involves analyzing equipment operations through the system front end and utilizing SkySpark with Fault Detection and Diagnostics (FDD) software.
- Diagnose and repair intricate control systems that require extensive knowledge of various electronic or digital control systems, along with the ability to test and modify systems software in multiple programming languages.
- Conduct testing and implement modifications to systems software as necessary.
- Assist in documenting field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and updates to drawings.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in DDC controls and Building Automation Systems (BAS) with a focus on service and maintenance.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- Experience with Fault Detection and Diagnostics (FDD) software is essential.
- Tridium Niagara Certification is required.
- Experience in programming and troubleshooting various HVAC control product brands is highly desirable (including Metasys, Tridium Niagara, Apogee, Distech, Carrier, ALC, Andover, etc.).
- Proficiency with Johnson Controls Metasys or Tridium Niagara Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems is strongly preferred.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to pass a full lifetime criminal history check for HSPD12 badging.
