Position Overview:

Become an integral part of a prestigious academic healthcare institution, The University of Chicago Medicine, as a Credentials Coordinator. This role is pivotal in overseeing the medical staff credentialing program and enhancing the functionality of the Medical Staff Organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the processing of medical staff applications for both initial appointments and reappointments efficiently.
  • Ensure timely processing and thorough review of applications, including verification of current licensure and malpractice insurance.
  • Assess and validate previous clinical training, as well as past and present hospital affiliations and privileges, focusing on minimizing potential risks.
  • Support the medical staff credentials and privileges committee, ensuring all necessary follow-up actions are executed.
  • Act as a liaison and problem-solver for clinical department administrators and physicians regarding credentialing matters.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in medical staff administration and credentialing.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards from Joint Commission, DNV, NCQA, CMS, and state regulations.
  • Understanding of medical terminology.
  • Strong initiative, decision-making capabilities, and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in PC applications, particularly database management (Access preferred).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective relationships with physicians and departmental staff.
