Position Overview:

Join a prestigious academic healthcare institution as a Credentialing Specialist within the Medical Staff Office. This role is pivotal in overseeing the initial and renewal application processes, collaborating with healthcare providers to ensure timely completion of applications. Your responsibilities will include reviewing submissions for accuracy and completeness, and actively engaging with providers to rectify any deficiencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the initial and renewal application processes, ensuring providers complete their applications promptly. Scrutinize applications for thoroughness and accuracy, and liaise with providers to secure any missing or incomplete documentation.
  • Encourage providers to return signed applications swiftly, aiming for submission to the facility for processing within a designated timeframe.
  • Support Credentialing Coordinators in gathering outstanding documents to adhere to established timelines.
  • Initiate and maintain provider information within online credentialing systems and databases.
  • Generate weekly reports to identify providers with impending expirations of licenses and certifications.
  • Guarantee that providers' medical licenses, board certifications, professional liability insurance, DEA registrations, and other essential credentials are renewed before expiration.
  • Facilitate and monitor the escalation of outstanding credentials, maintaining communication with both providers and hospital medical staff to ensure all licenses and privileges remain current.

Qualifications:

  • Fundamental understanding of medical staff administration and credentialing practices.
  • Basic familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Awareness of JCAHO standards, as well as regulations from Illinois, Indiana, CMS, and NCQA is advantageous.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including electronic systems.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Exceptional interpersonal abilities to foster and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, departmental staff, and other stakeholders.

Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination requirements is mandatory for employment.
