Field Property Claim Representative

Hastings Insurance is seeking a skilled Field Property Claim Representative to join our team in the Northeast Indiana region. As a key member of our Field Property Claim Team, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional service to our policyholders across the region.
Job Summary:The Field Property Claim Representative will investigate, evaluate, and resolve routine to moderate-level property claims within the company's contractual and legal obligations. This role requires strong communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage a personal caseload of claims, ensuring proper adjudication or settlement within company policies and procedures.
- Utilize Guidewire ClaimCenter, Xactimate, and other approved applications to perform job duties.
- Facilitate the claim process, resolving claims in a timely manner through positive and productive communications with customers.
- Appropriately review and apply coverage/compensability for all claims.
- Investigate, evaluate, and settle claims within the scope of the company's contractual and legal obligations.
- Identify and pursue salvage and subrogation opportunities to minimize claim losses and improve company results.
- Document all claim files accurately and thoroughly to substantiate the disposition of the claim and minimize erroneous payments.
- Establish and maintain appropriate case reserves to fund the payment of the claim once it is resolved.
- Identify potential fraud and refer to the appropriate authority.
- Coordinate relevant claim information with Loss Control, Underwriting, Marketing, and other departments to maximize the company's effectiveness in avoiding future losses.
- Bachelor's degree preferred, with formal insurance education and equivalent work experience considered.
- Insurance industry experience highly preferred, with construction, building trades, or related background considered.
- Experience with Xactimate Estimating software preferred.
- Proficiency in multiple areas such as general liability, premises liability, construction negligence, construction defect, writing scopes and estimates, cause and origin, and water mitigation desired.
- Preferred industry designations include Associate in Claims (AIC), Senior Claim Law Associate (SCLA), or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU).
- Excellent demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated critical thinking behavior and application.
- Ability to prioritize claims in a high-volume, fast-paced environment while embodying results orientation, teamwork, and decisiveness.
- Demonstrated proficiency in conflict management and resolution.
