Job Title: Safety Claims Investigator-Trainer

Job Summary:

The City of Fort Wayne is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Claims Investigator-Trainer to join our team. As a key member of our Risk Management department, you will be responsible for investigating and resolving liability claims, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, and providing safety training to City employees.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Investigate and document liability claims, property damage, and tort claims
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and conduct safety inspections of City facilities and properties
  • Develop and implement safe work practices for all employees
  • Provide safety training to City employees, including CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogen training
  • Conduct research on various safety-related topics and regulations
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of safety inspections and training
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management, Criminal Justice, Business, Nursing, Public Health, or Occupational Safety/Industrial Hygiene-related field
  • Five years of public safety/law enforcement work or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
  • Current Basic Life Support and First Aid/CPR Instructor Certification
  • 30-hour OSHA Training course within the past two years or within six months of employment
