Overview

This position serves as a foundational role in project oversight within the civil engineering sector. The individual will be tasked with guiding a design team through various project management responsibilities, including seeking new project opportunities, preparing proposals, assessing staffing requirements, and ensuring project workload is effectively managed. Additionally, the role involves monitoring the financial aspects of projects, nurturing relationships with current and potential clients, and overseeing budget recommendations and reviews.

Key Responsibilities
  • Explore new market opportunities and foster relationships with existing clients to secure ongoing projects.
  • Draft proposals and qualification documents, including pre-implementation cost estimates, and deliver compelling presentations.
  • Ensure the successful execution of project timelines, scopes, and financial plans.
  • Develop and manage project schedules and budgets, ensuring accountability for timely and budget-compliant project delivery.
  • Determine the composition of project teams and allocate workloads effectively.
  • Facilitate project initiation meetings to align on schedules and objectives.
  • Oversee invoicing and payment processes to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Take responsibility for the design phase, including conducting design review meetings and providing progress updates to stakeholders.
  • Manage bidding processes in accordance with project specifications, addressing contractor inquiries as needed.
  • Supervise the construction phase, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries and maintain effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assume professional accountability for projects under direct supervision.
  • Implement and uphold quality control measures across all technical disciplines involved in project completion.
  • Provide mentorship and training to technical support staff.
  • Coordinate with various teams to ensure comprehensive project support.
  • Maintain organized and complete project correspondence and documentation.
  • Ensure proper project closure in line with established protocols.
  • Advise senior management on staffing needs and recruitment strategies as necessary.
  • Contribute to employee evaluations through relevant feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with personnel policies and procedures among team members.
  • Recommend disciplinary actions to senior management when required.
  • Engage regularly with various stakeholders, including Principals, Engineers, Survey Managers, and Contractors.
  • Enhance professional knowledge by participating in workshops, reviewing industry publications, and engaging with professional networks.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in engineering design consulting.
  • Strong leadership abilities, along with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant technical software.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Professional Engineering License is preferred.
