Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Overhead Crew Supervisor to join our team at Sumter Utilities Inc. As a key member of our electrical distribution team, you will be responsible for providing direct supervision and technical guidance to linemen, apprentices, and groundmen on various electrical distribution and construction projects.


Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and mobilize essential personnel on-site for projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Communicate and enforce safety requirements and best practices, promoting a culture of safety within the team.
  • Manage supplies, materials, and equipment, ensuring optimal utilization and minimizing waste.
  • Assist with planning, directing, and budgeting activities related to construction projects, including pole line and electrical material installation.
  • Read and interpret site plans, construction drawings, and scopes of work, ensuring accurate execution of projects.
  • Communicate effectively with General Foremen, Superintendents, Construction Managers, Project Managers, and other project personnel.
  • Understand and follow detailed construction schedules, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalency and be able to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and scopes of work.
  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively with multiple levels of field professionals and back-office support functions.
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home, with experience working at heights up to and above 60 feet preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, demonstrate teamwork skills, and understand and follow directions in the workplace.
  • Must have a quality work ethic and be committed to optimal customer service.
  • Be willing and able to work additional hours and travel long distances on short notice, as required.
  • Total commitment to safety and compliance is essential.

Requirements

The employee is required to sit frequently, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or maneuver up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or maneuver up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work is primarily performed outdoors, exposing the employee to extreme weather conditions, animals, and insects, and other outdoor hazards.
