POSITION SUMMARY
The Life Safety Systems Technician is responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of all safety and security systems. This role involves conducting inventory assessments and configuring both hardware and software components.

The incumbent is tasked with maintaining accurate records of workflow and supervising low voltage technicians and external vendors.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Collaborates with project teams to coordinate layouts for building systems and conducts inspections of facilities, grounds, and equipment to ensure compliance with established standards and specifications.
  • Manages daily operational workflows for assigned teams and/or vendors, ensuring that preventive maintenance and service requests are executed efficiently and correctly.
  • Reviews and assigns work orders through the work order tracking system.
  • Obtains quotes from vendors for various systems and components; informs the department Director upon the complete receipt of goods and/or services for final invoicing.
  • Conducts advanced troubleshooting of all life safety systems to identify root causes and system failures.
  • Engages in research to remain informed about current and emerging technologies and product advancements.
  • Performs on-site quality inspections to verify work completed by authorized vendors and low voltage technician teams, ensuring project completion.
  • Maintains an inventory of all operational equipment, service records, and warranty documentation.
  • Required to have regular, prompt attendance and be available for on-site work during standard business hours and as necessary.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned by a relevant administrator or their representative.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to recommend and implement advanced technology integration strategies to enhance organizational efficiency.
  • Knowledge of electronic theory and components.
  • Proficient in interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering instructions for assembling electronic units.
  • Experienced in system administration, including evaluation, selection, installation, and maintenance of systems such as fire alarms, burglary alarms, access control, CCTV, intercoms, and other network devices.
  • Familiarity with circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware/software, including applications and programming.
  • Understanding of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

  • Valid driver's license and access to private transportation, or the ability to attend off-site meetings.
  • Industry network certification required; ASIS-PSP preferred.
  • Georgia Low Voltage License must be obtained by the date of hire or within one year of hire.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Five years of relevant experience in Low Voltage Technology required.
  • Experience with Milestone (VMS), Lenel, Rauland, Notifier, and Bosch systems is preferred.
