Job Overview

Position Summary:


Deliver exceptional nursing care to designated patients while adhering to established nursing standards and practices under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.

Foster collaborative relationships with fellow nursing staff, physicians, and support personnel to ensure optimal patient care. Maintain a current level of knowledge and clinical proficiency through ongoing education, training sessions, and self-directed learning.

Qualifications:

Current LPN license as per the regulations of the relevant state.

Experience:

Must possess a valid license from the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Completion of the IV therapy curriculum as stipulated in the Pennsylvania Code is required. If not completed prior to employment, the candidate must finish a Board-approved LPN IV Therapy Education Program before independently performing IV therapy.

Additionally, the LPN must fulfill specific educational criteria set by the nursing unit throughout their employment. CPR certification is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with and support the Registered Nurse in delivering patient care. A. Effectively communicate patient observations to the healthcare team. B. Uphold the philosophy and objectives of the nursing department.
  • Assist the Registered Nurse in the nursing process. A. Engage in patient data collection, including during the admission process. B. Contribute to the establishment of patient and family-centered outcomes. C. Implement care plans in partnership with the nursing team. D. Aid the RN in assessing patient responses to interventions. E. Suggest modifications to care plans to the RN and take part in patient care discussions.
  • Exhibit proficiency in nursing skills and procedures relevant to the clinical area and scope of practice. A. Operate within the defined nursing care scope consistent with policies and Pennsylvania LPN licensure. B. Collaborate with the RN to apply evidence-based interventions tailored to patient needs. C. Assist in educating patients and families using available educational resources. D. Prioritize tasks and set objectives to effectively manage daily patient responsibilities.
4. Document patient care accurately, thoroughly, and promptly in accordance with nursing department standards. A. Report and document changes in patient conditions to the RN.

  • Meet professional role expectations and requirements. A. Display behaviors that align with the organization's mission and vision. B. Foster positive interpersonal relationships within the nursing and interprofessional teams to enhance efficiency and ensure quality patient care. C. Share knowledge and skills with colleagues by identifying opportunities to mentor others, participating in the orientation of new staff, and collaborating with educational institutions for clinical training. D. Commit to continuous learning by assessing personal educational needs, developing a plan to maintain clinical skills, and executing that plan. Maintain professional documentation that evidences competency. E. Evaluate personal strengths and weaknesses. F. Engage in performance improvement initiatives to facilitate changes in nursing practice and healthcare delivery. G. Participate in efforts to reduce costs and eliminate unnecessary duplication in patient care.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Utilize downtime between patient care tasks to maintain a clean and organized work environment and assist colleagues with patient care.

The compensation range for this position is between $24.50 and $38.23 per hour.
