PeaceHealth is in search of a Patient Team Support - Emergency for a Per Diem/Relief, 0.00 FTE, Variable position. The general salary range for this position is $32.50. The actual hiring rate is influenced by various factors, including job responsibilities, location, applicable collective bargaining agreements, education, training, work experience, seniority, and performance.

This role is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be multiple openings for this position.

Job Overview

The individual in this role will consistently embody the mission, values, and customer service philosophy of PeaceHealth in their work and interactions. They will assist the healthcare team in ensuring an efficient nursing unit through effective communication, organizational skills, and professionalism. The role involves providing patient care within the scope of a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A) as directed by the Registered Nurse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute assigned tasks within the scope of a Certified Nursing Assistant and in alignment with PeaceHealth and general nursing policies and procedures.
  • Act as a patient advocate, meeting or exceeding customer needs while maintaining discretion in managing patient information and ensuring strict confidentiality.
  • Report significant changes in a patient's condition to the appropriate care team member.
  • Handle clerical duties on the unit, including accurate transcription of orders, coordinating patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, as well as managing patient registration, scheduling, and insurance authorizations.
  • Monitor, maintain, and order unit supplies as necessary.
  • Enhance the safety and security of the unit by demonstrating knowledge of fire, biohazard, electrical safety, infection control policies, and disaster plans.
  • Foster a safety-conscious work environment and uphold good housekeeping practices.
  • Within the scope of a Nursing Assistant, demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care appropriate to the age of patients served.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals served, regardless of their age.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education
  • Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Required: Graduate of a Certified Nursing Assistant Acute Care (level II) program.
Experience
  • Preferred: Previous experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
  • Preferred: Experience as a Unit Secretary or in a related field.
Credentials
  • Required: Certified Nurse Assistant 2 - Oregon (Oregon Requirement).
  • Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support certification.
Skills
  • Preferred: Proficient in computer usage.
  • Required: Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Required: Flexibility, self-motivation, and excellent customer service skills.
Working Conditions

Lifting
  • Patient handling not exceeding 35 lbs. without assistive equipment.
  • Fine motor skills required for handling medical equipment and performing precise procedures.
  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force.
  • Ability to perform hands-on CPR for at least 20 minutes.
  • Frequent movement around the area with periods of sitting.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, and kneeling.
  • Occasional lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. and frequent lifting of 5 lbs.
Environmental Conditions
  • Exposure to biohazard materials, body fluids, and airborne particles.
  • Ability to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
Mental/Visual
  • Vision and hearing within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
