Position Overview


As the Head of Software Engineering for Command Center, you will play a pivotal role in defining technical benchmarks and steering the comprehensive technical framework and engineering methodologies.

Your responsibilities will encompass all facets of software development, concentrating on addressing the most intricate challenges and constructing high-caliber, architecturally robust systems that align with our organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the establishment of technical standards and architectural frameworks.
  • Lead and engage in a variety of software development initiatives while guiding the team to tackle the most complex challenges.
  • Develop high-quality software utilizing contemporary cloud and edge methodologies.
  • Recruit, manage, and nurture a team of exceptional software engineers.
  • Oversee cross-functional projects from inception through to deployment.
  • Influence organizational roadmap priorities, system stakeholders, and technical strategies.
  • Articulate challenging trade-off decisions and solutions to stakeholders to clarify options.
  • Steer the technical direction and decisions to deliver solutions that meet GE HealthCare's high standards for customer satisfaction, efficiency, stability, extensibility, simplicity, and operational excellence.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, focusing on the design and development of highly scalable web services.
  • 4+ years of experience in a managerial role within a software development environment, responsible for team hiring and development.
  • 5+ years of experience in planning, designing, developing, and delivering commercial and/or consumer software.
  • Proficient in collaborating and effectively communicating with product and program management teams.
  • Familiarity with technology and modern development practices, including Object-Oriented principles (C++, Java, or similar languages) and Service-Oriented Architecture.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree in computer science or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development management.
  • Extensive hands-on technical expertise.
  • Project Management experience utilizing agile development methodologies.
  • Ability to translate raw product requirements into software architectures and designs.

Essential Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling successful collaboration with teams across the organization, including Engineering, Program Management, Quality Assurance, and Senior Leadership.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities; adept at using data and metrics to support assumptions and opinions.

Additional Information

GE HealthCare may consider visa sponsorship based on business needs. This position may also be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI).
