Job Title: English Teacher

We are seeking a highly qualified English teacher to join our team at St. Anthony Catholic High School. As an English teacher, you will be responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans that meet the requirements of the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the requirements of the curriculum.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Work cooperatively with administrators, department chairs, and other staff as needed to meet curriculum objectives.
  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Serve as an advisor to 15-20 students.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and Student handbook.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Establish and maintain open communication through conferences with parents, students, principal, and teachers.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Attend after-school faculty meetings, evening parent meetings, monthly community liturgies, class retreats, and open houses as requested.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of the English curriculum.
  • Ability to understand and teach concepts in the writing process.
  • Ability to deliver SAT prep instruction.
  • Ability to learn and use interactive technologies to enhance learning.
  • Willingness to assist in coaching students for speech competitions.
  • Strong technology skills.
  • Ability to address learning differences through differentiated instruction.
  • Ability to provide additional tutorials or study sessions with students outside the regular school day.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree.
  • Previous high school teaching experience.
  • Teacher certification in English.
Work Hours:

Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Some night and weekend work may be required dependent on student activity sponsorship and special events such as Open House.
