Position Title: Building Maintenance Electrician
Position Overview:
The Building Maintenance Electrician is responsible for a variety of essential tasks, including the upkeep of electrical distribution systems up to 600 volts. This role involves troubleshooting and maintaining control circuitry, variable frequency drives, and specialized electrical systems. The electrician will also wire outlets, relocate fixtures, and install lighting and power panels as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain and troubleshoot primary and secondary electrical distribution systems up to 600 volts, ensuring all control circuitry and special electrical systems are functioning correctly.
• Service and maintain batteries and transformers.
• Complete all preventive maintenance tasks and maintain accurate records for assigned responsibilities.
• Prepare and submit electrician's reports detailing all work performed.
• Provide recommendations to supervisors regarding equipment performance and maintenance needs.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations as they arise.
• Uphold a safe and organized work environment, adhering to company safety policies and procedures.
- Qualifications:
• Minimum of four years of experience in a commercial maintenance environment.
• Possession of a Journeyman's license or completion of a four-year apprenticeship program.
• At least five years of experience in a commercial and industrial electrical trade.
• Comprehensive knowledge of building codes, regulations, and ordinances.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, schematics, and technical drawings effectively.
• Experience in estimating electrical labor, materials, and equipment for projects.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are essential.Competencies: Proficient in calculating figures and amounts, including discounts and percentages. Familiarity with basic algebra, Ohm's Law, and geometry is required. Certification to operate a fork truck and aerial lift is preferred. Capable of solving practical problems and adapting to various situations. Ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions accurately.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of this position require the employee to regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, and communicate effectively. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently, up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: The work environment involves exposure to moving mechanical parts and potential electrical hazards. Employees may encounter wet or humid conditions, extreme temperatures, and high noise levels. Safety protocols must be followed to mitigate risks associated with these conditions.
