Job Overview

Habitat America, a prominent third-party property management firm, oversees a diverse portfolio of approximately 100 apartment communities primarily situated in the Mid Atlantic region, including Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

We are looking to fill a Full-Time (40 hours per week) Marketing Assistant position to enhance the visibility of Habitat America and the apartment communities under our management. This role presents an excellent opportunity for individuals aiming to expand their marketing expertise.

The role encompasses both outreach marketing and digital graphic design responsibilities. The selected candidate will be tasked with promoting our communities and visiting each site for outreach, while also supporting our design team.

Key Responsibilities:

Outreach Marketing Duties:

  • Foster and maintain a positive brand image for the company, communities, and residents.
  • Serve as a liaison between onsite personnel and local community organizations and businesses.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies.
  • Conduct market research to identify target demographics and distribute promotional materials effectively.
  • Engage with prospects and leads to drive traffic to leasing offices.
  • Participate in promotional events for the properties, including on-site activities, housing fairs, career fairs, and competitor events.
  • Travel extensively to various sites, primarily within the DC metropolitan area. Reliable transportation is essential.

Graphic Design Duties:

  • Assist the corporate Marketing Department in updating marketing materials and company branding.
  • Collaborate with Graphic Designers on the editing and production of marketing collateral.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the company blog and website, including creative writing, editing, and generating engaging content.
  • Support the management of corporate and community reputation.

Required Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Proficient marketing copywriting skills.
  • Basic understanding of marketing principles.
  • Design proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in leasing property management and file management is advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Basic familiarity with WordPress.
  • Experience in developing email marketing campaigns (Mailchimp), including re-engagement and A/B testing.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION IS REQUIRED.
