About Us
The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation is a prominent advocate for the conservation of U.S. protected waters. We are seeking a dedicated part-time Gift Store and Rentals Coordinator to enhance the operations of our gift store and manage facility rentals at the Sanctuary Exploration Center. This role is essential in promoting our mission to educate the public about marine conservation and stewardship.

Key Responsibilities
The Gift Store and Rentals Coordinator will collaborate with the Sanctuary Exploration Center Manager to oversee retail functions and coordinate event rentals. Responsibilities include:

  • Inventory Management (20%):
    Conduct product research to identify merchandise that aligns with our mission, manage inventory levels, and ensure effective product presentation.
  • Administrative Duties (15%):
    Maintain vendor databases, manage invoices, and handle communications related to store operations.
  • Financial Reporting (15%):
    Generate sales reports, maintain daily sales records, and assist in financial tracking for the foundation.
  • Volunteer Coordination (10%):
    Train and oversee gift store volunteers, ensuring they are knowledgeable about products and operations.
  • Event and Facility Rentals (20%):
    Manage scheduling and logistics for facility rentals, ensuring events are well-staffed and executed.

Who You Are
You possess a passion for marine conservation and a keen interest in sustainable products. With a background in retail management or experience in a similar environment, you are proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of retail management experience or two years in retail operations.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Google Suite and Excel.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Availability to work weekdays and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in supervisory roles.
  • Familiarity with non-profit or small business operations.
  • Knowledge of retail trends and best practices.

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
