A Tank Operations Supervisor is tasked with overseeing personnel to ensure the safe execution of site-specific work as outlined in contractual agreements. This role also encompasses all related documentation and administrative responsibilities. Candidates must possess the ability to interpret blueprints and written directives, as well as follow verbal instructions to fulfill the duties and responsibilities listed below. Physical stamina is essential, as heavy lifting and the ability to kneel, squat, and climb are often required. The role may involve extended periods of work in confined spaces, frequently necessitating the use of breathing apparatus. Tolerance for extreme weather conditions is also a must.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all team members adhere to safety protocols and maintain a secure working environment, fulfilling all requirements set forth in the HMT Safety Manual and site-specific guidelines.
  • Lead daily safety briefings and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA).
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents to comprehend the scope of work and proactively address any potential issues. Maintain ongoing communication with the Project Manager.
  • Guarantee compliance with HMT and customer specifications, guidelines, and documentation requirements.
  • Manage the field crew effectively in executing daily tasks.
  • Optimize work efficiency concerning manpower, equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Ensure adherence to all Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) standards, including contract specifications.
  • Complete necessary site paperwork, including timesheets and purchase orders.
  • Foster positive onsite customer relations.
  • Revise construction drawings as necessary for approved scope modifications and provide sketches of existing customer equipment related to our work.
  • Complete required HMT Data Sheets.
  • Train crew members in tank construction techniques, with the expectation of mentoring future Field Foremen.
  • Maintain a constructive attitude with team members.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (75%+).

Qualifications & Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a field foreman in the Above Ground Storage Tank sector.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Possession of a TWIC Card is required.

Preferred Skills

  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational capabilities.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to provide clear instructions to a team of up to 15 employees.
  • Maintain accurate Field Progress Reports.
  • Capable of completing all safety and QA/QC documentation independently.
  • Knowledge of automatic welding and burning equipment, including the ability to operate and instruct others in its use.
  • Ability to interpret field and fabrication drawings.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • DOT OQ qualified.
  • Certified Rigger with an understanding of rigging practices.

Physical & Mental Requirements

The physical demands of this position require the employee to successfully perform essential functions. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. Regular duties include standing, walking, and using hands for various tasks. Frequent activities involve walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and lifting/moving objects up to 50 pounds. Mental alertness is required throughout the work shift.
