A Tank Operations Supervisor is tasked with overseeing personnel to ensure the safe execution of project-specific work as detailed in contractual agreements. The individual must possess the ability to interpret technical drawings and written directives, as well as follow verbal instructions to effectively carry out the responsibilities outlined below. Physical demands may include heavy lifting, kneeling, squatting, and climbing, with the ability to work in confined spaces often requiring breathing apparatus. Tolerance for extreme weather conditions for prolonged periods is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guarantee that all team members operate in a safe manner and within a secure environment, adhering to the HMT Safety Manual, site-specific guidelines, and customer requirements.
  • Facilitate and lead daily safety briefings and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA).
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents to comprehend the scope of work and proactively address any potential challenges. Maintain regular communication with the Project Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with all HMT and customer specifications, protocols, and documentation requirements.
  • Oversee the field crew in executing daily tasks efficiently regarding manpower, equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Ensure adherence to all Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) standards, including contract specifications and drawings.
  • Complete necessary site documentation, including timesheets, time and materials sheets, and purchase orders.
  • Manage onsite customer relations effectively.
  • Revise construction drawings as necessary for approved scope modifications and provide sketches of existing customer equipment related to our scope.
  • Complete required HMT Data Sheets (e.g., roof drain systems, suction, seal data).
  • Train crew members in tank construction techniques, with the expectation of mentoring potential Field Foremen.
  • Maintain a positive rapport with crew members.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (75%+).

Qualifications & Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a field foreman in the Above Ground Storage Tank sector.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Possession of a TWIC Card is mandatory.

Preferred Skills

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Capable of overseeing up to 15 employees concurrently.
  • Maintain accurate Field Progress Reports.
  • Provide clear and concise instructions to multiple team members during work execution.
  • Complete all safety and QA/QC paperwork independently.
  • Knowledge of automatic welding and burning equipment, including the ability to operate, repair, and instruct others in its use.
  • Ability to interpret field and fabrication drawings.
  • Effective communication skills via email and phone.
  • DOT OQ qualified.
  • Certified Rigger with a solid understanding of rigging practices.

While fulfilling the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands for various tasks. Frequent activities include walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing, carrying, pushing/pulling, and repetitive hand movements. The employee may need to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Mental alertness is required throughout the entire shift.

This position may involve working in diverse locations across the U.S., with potential exposure to extreme temperatures, heights, and other challenging conditions. There may be risks associated with temperature fluctuations, confined spaces, fumes, and hazardous materials. HMT will provide adequate training and equipment to ensure job functions are performed safely.
