Job Summary

The Membership Manager is a key member of the Development team at Storm King Art Center, responsible for developing and implementing strategies to grow and retain the organization's membership base. This role requires a strong understanding of fundraising principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement annual membership strategies to meet revenue goals
  • Plan and execute membership campaigns, including acquisition, renewal, upgrade, and lapsed campaigns
  • Write and oversee all general communications to members, including acknowledgement letters, promotional materials, and event invitations
  • Support the Director of Development and Associate Director, Individual Giving with moves management pipeline and develop strategies to increase members' involvement and level of support
  • Plan and execute annual calendar of Member-only events
  • Work with the Development Operations Associate to update and maintain membership data in CRM (Altru) for tracking and analysis of campaigns and member trends
  • Liaise with other Storm King departments to ensure consistent Membership experience across the organization
  • Supervise the workflow of the Individual Giving Assistant as pertains to Membership tasks or event support
Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Three years of related experience, preferably in a non-profit organization in fundraising, or in direct sales and customer service
  • Working knowledge of fundraising databases required, preferably a Blackbaud product
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent follow-through, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills both internally and externally
  • Belief in the mission of Storm King; an ability to be a strong champion for the organization
  • Ability and willingness to travel to NYC and flexibility to work evenings and weekends for events and tours as required
