Position Overview: The Production Trainer enhances the value of BAPI and the Production Team by delivering orientation for new hires and training within the manufacturing sector. When not engaged in training, the Trainer will assist with light assembly tasks, transforming raw materials into finished goods according to engineering specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Training and Development:

  1. Collaborate with Line Leaders to identify assembly requirements and functions within designated work cells.
  2. Assist in creating and updating training materials for general production, mechanical/electrical assembly, and machine operation.
  3. Conduct new hire orientation and training sessions, ensuring comprehension of work instructions, safety protocols (including ESD, protective eyewear, machine safety, and emergency procedures), quality expectations, and the significance of attendance.
  4. Provide training for existing employees transitioning to new lines or cells.
  5. Serve as a resource for new hires and employees moving to different cells during their initial 90 days.
  6. Evaluate competency in work cells through teach-back methods, skills assessments, and checkpoints throughout the training process.
  7. Provide constructive feedback to new employees and the Production Supervisor regarding understanding, productivity, strengths, and areas for improvement, identifying skill gaps that may necessitate further training or performance management.

Product Assembly:

  1. Adhere to the guidance of Cell/Line Leaders and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for each task.
  2. Follow instructions from Supervisors/Schedulers and Cell/Line Leaders regarding work priorities.
  3. Utilize the appropriate tools for each task.
  4. Refer to the Bill of Materials (BOM) and online prints before commencing tasks.
  5. Perform tasks such as soldering, stripping, crimping wires, applying waterproofing materials, calibrating, and assembling as directed.
  6. Manage time effectively and transition between tasks efficiently.
  7. Consult relevant documentation for accurate in-process inspections for oneself and others.
  8. Adapt to various roles within lines/cells and demonstrate capability in 2-3 different areas.
  9. Contribute to the overall goal of timely product shipment.

Inventory Participation:

  1. During inventory periods, accurately count parts, document quantities, and assist in auditing counts of others or scanning products as assigned.

Professional Development: Stay informed about industry trends by attending workshops, reviewing relevant publications, and building professional networks.

Team Contribution: Support team objectives by achieving related results and participating in special projects as assigned by supervisors.

Education Requirements:

(R) High School Diploma or GED

(R) 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; preference for candidates with onboarding, training, or related experience.

(P) Technical Certificate with 1-2 years of relevant experience, or 3-5 years of related experience.

Preferred Degrees/Certificates: Electronics, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, Industrial.

Working Conditions:

Physical Environment: Light manufacturing setting.

Safety Requirements: Use of safety glasses, ESD lab coats, and closed-toe shoes in designated areas.

Physical Efforts Required:

  • Extended periods of sitting at a computer as needed.
  • Bending and stooping on a daily basis.
  • Movement throughout the facility as required.
  • Reaching on a daily basis.
  • Regular lifting of materials.

Travel Requirements: None.

Extended Hours: Rarely required to complete urgent orders.
