POSITION SUMMARY


This role provides essential support to the leadership team at Highmark, or its affiliates, focusing on strategic initiatives crucial for Government Market Expansion aimed at achieving Medicaid membership and financial objectives.

Strategy Consultants are tasked with analytical and strategic leadership to identify and evaluate growth prospects: (1) track industry regulations, trends, and timelines for opportunities, (2) evaluate strategic alignment for Highmark, (3) rank potential opportunities, and (4) assist in crafting business cases to facilitate informed decision-making.


Strategy Consultants drive growth initiatives and partnership development:
(1) design and implement analytics for exploring growth opportunities (market research, scenario analysis, forecasting, market share assessment, profitability studies, etc.); (2) produce technical documentation (competitive analysis, market trend reports); (3) formulate formal recommendations for Senior Leadership; (4) create document components (go-to-market strategies, operational plans, etc.) that address critical strategic matters; (5) establish partnership agreements and aid in contract negotiations; (6) assist in the formulation and execution of market entry strategies.

The Strategy Consultant may assume various roles within a project, including project leadership, problem-solving, data analysis, team management, communication, implementation, and project oversight.

The incumbent often plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the strategy for specific initiatives.

Engages in multiple projects, gaining exposure to various organizational facets, and will support planning, communication, and management of the enterprise strategy.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead or assist in significant strategic initiatives across the Enterprise.

The role will vary based on the initiative but will encompass elements of team leadership, problem-solving, data analysis, project management, communication, and implementation support.

Participate in the formulation of strategic plans for the Enterprise and its key business units.
Assist the team in identifying, clarifying, and resolving complex challenges critical to the initiative's success.
Support the identification of initiative impacts on other strategic projects to ensure overall strategy alignment.
Contribute to the development of standard analytics and processes for leading various strategic initiatives.
Play a role in cultivating the culture and skill set of the Strategy Team.
Other responsibilities as assigned or requested.

EDUCATION
Required

Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field, or relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

Preferred
Master's Degree in Business or a related field.

EXPERIENCE
Required
6 years of post-bachelor degree relevant experience in Business or Healthcare or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

2 years of consulting experience with some exposure to innovation or healthcare-related fields or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Preferred
6 years of experience in payer, hospital systems, or care delivery sectors.
Experience in influencing change within complex organizational frameworks.
Familiarity with Medicaid and Medicare managed care operations and technology.
Experience in product and market development.
Experience in deal negotiation and contract formulation.

SKILLS
Ability to tackle complex conceptual and operational challenges; potential to lead teams in problem-solving activities.
Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities.
Broad application of principles, theories, and concepts in strategic thinking, along with a working knowledge of related fields.
Proficient in PC applications (MS Office including PowerPoint and Excel).
Awareness of national and regional healthcare industry trends and challenges.
Knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare programs and policies.
Ability to interpret contracts and regulatory policies to identify business requirements and assess strategic implications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
Demonstrated influencing and teamwork abilities.
Basic project management skills.
Focus on customer impact of decisions made.
Proactive in driving change and fostering continuous improvement.
Strong emotional intelligence, with a servant leadership approach.
