Underwriting Consultant

CNA is seeking a highly skilled Underwriting Consultant to join our team of Large Account Primary Casualty Underwriters. As a key member of our Commercial Standard lines team, you will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of business and industry classes, including Manufacturing, Distributors, Education, Real Estate, Technology, Wholesale, Retail, and Service classes.
Key Responsibilities- Review and analyze applications and financial requirements for complex underwriting risks, determining acceptability and pricing based on company guidelines and standards.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with external agents and internal business partners, including local Branch and Home Office teams, and Units (Claim and Risk Control).
- Market products and services through agencies or the brokerage community, making field visits as needed.
- Analyze quality, quantity, and profitability of risks underwritten, preparing reports for management review.
- Provide guidance and assistance to other underwriters and functional areas, particularly on cross-sell opportunities.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with professional designations preferred.
- Typically a minimum five years underwriting experience within the large account casualty space.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise independent judgment and make critical business decisions.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work independently.
