Role Overview:

The Senior Procurement Specialist is responsible for spearheading the formulation and implementation of sourcing strategies for designated expenditure categories within the organization.

This role enhances the visibility of CF Industries' procurement and materials management operations by aligning with the strategic objectives of the corporate function, ensuring integration with relevant business units.

The individual in this position will lead initiatives to identify and adopt best practices across all procurement activities, fostering supportive relationships both internally and externally within the procurement community and at the management level.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Accountabilities:

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies at the site, regionally, and potentially on a global scale to align with the vision and strategic goals of Procurement and Material Control.
  • Ensure adherence to procurement processes at the site while enhancing procurement's role in business alignment.
  • Engage continuously with stakeholders throughout the procurement process and category management.
  • Support the site procurement team in achieving long-term and annual objectives in line with business and site-specific plans.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and annual goal-setting processes, focusing on cost, safety, risk, reliability, continuous improvement, technology adoption, supplier innovation, and service.
  • Enhance turnaround and capital project planning, contracting, and execution.
  • Leverage knowledge of industry trends and competitive practices to gain a competitive edge in procurement operations.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies addressing key risks in contract management and supplier relations.
  • Manage key supplier relationships to maximize alignment and value creation.
  • Drive standardization and optimization in procurement strategies and supplier management processes.

Operational Accountabilities:

  • Participate in site meetings and initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and community engagement.
  • Support early planning for key projects and turnarounds, ensuring necessary activities are executed effectively.
  • Facilitate essential interactions across sites.
  • Formulate and implement sourcing strategies that enhance productivity, supplier performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor procurement and material control functions by reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) quarterly.
  • Implement procurement-related policies and process improvements.
  • Contribute to supplier qualification efforts, including the introduction of potential new suppliers.
  • Manage contract releases and purchase orders, expediting materials and services as required.
  • Oversee the administration of the supply base, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements and training protocols.
  • Mentor junior procurement team members in strategy development, contract execution, and negotiation.
  • Facilitate improvements in supply and service agreements to enhance accuracy and productivity.
  • Manage supplier performance and continuous improvement processes with appropriate KPIs.

Internal Controls:

Establish and implement processes to meet internal control requirements, ensuring compliance with established procedures. Collaborate with the Internal Controls Department to identify deficiencies and develop corrective actions as necessary.


Qualifications:

Successful candidates will possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of six years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or engineering roles.
  • A proven track record of delivering substantial results in complex organizations.
  • Experience in developing and implementing regional strategies and processes.
  • Certification in procurement or supply management is preferred.
  • Expertise in managing strategic supplier relationships.
  • Strong technical knowledge of procurement practices, including negotiation, demand management, and risk management.
  • Familiarity with procurement systems such as SAP and Ariba.
  • Experience in heavy industrial environments, particularly in chemical manufacturing and major capital projects.
