Role Summary:
The Senior Procurement Specialist is responsible for spearheading the formulation and implementation of sourcing strategies for designated expenditure categories both locally and across CF Industries.
This role champions the procurement and materials management initiatives at the site level, ensuring alignment with the overarching strategic objectives of the organization.
The incumbent will lead efforts to identify and adopt best practices in procurement processes while fostering strong internal and external partnerships within the procurement domain and with plant management.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and execute procurement strategies at the site, regional, and potentially global levels, aligning with the vision and strategic goals of Procurement and Material Control.
Ensure adherence to procurement processes at the site and enhance procurement's involvement in business alignment.
Engage continuously with stakeholders throughout the procurement process and category management.
Support the site procurement team in achieving long-term and annual objectives in alignment with business and site-specific plans.
Contribute to the strategic planning and annual goal-setting processes, focusing on cost management, safety, risk mitigation, reliability, continuous improvement, technology integration, supplier innovation, and service excellence.
Enhance turnaround and capital project planning, contracting, and execution.
Utilize knowledge of industry trends, competitive products, and superior business practices to gain a competitive edge in procurement operations.
Assist in developing and executing risk management strategies that address key risks in contract management, supply chain, supplier management, and procurement processes.
Promote a unified company philosophy in all procurement initiatives.
Manage critical supplier relationships alongside stakeholders to maximize alignment and value creation.
Drive standardization and optimization of procurement strategies, supplier management, risk management, supplier qualification, and the procure-to-pay process.
Operational Duties:
Participate in site meetings and support initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and community engagement.
Engage in early planning for turnarounds and significant projects, providing necessary support during and after these events.
Facilitate key interactions across various sites.
Develop and implement sourcing strategies that enhance productivity, supplier performance, and cost reduction.
Monitor the efficiency of procurement and materials management functions by reporting quarterly on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Ensure compliance with all procurement-related policies, practices, and process enhancements.
Contribute to the efforts of CF category and improvement teams.
Support material control functions to optimize inventory levels and minimize stock-outs and obsolescence.
Lead the sourcing process, including managing proposals, formulating recommendations, negotiating contracts, and executing supplier transition plans.
Assist in supplier qualification initiatives, including the introduction of potential new suppliers.
Issue contract releases and purchase orders while expediting materials and services as necessary.
Oversee the administration of the supply base, including the introduction of new suppliers, performance evaluations, insurance management, and training compliance.
Mentor junior procurement team members in sourcing strategy development, contract execution, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation.
Manage supply and service agreements, facilitating improvements to enhance accuracy, visibility, productivity, and compliance with contract management processes and applicable regulations.
Segment the supply base based on impact and implement supplier performance management and continuous improvement processes with appropriate KPIs and governance.
Facilitate claim management, proactively addressing and resolving issues.
Internal Controls:
Establish and implement processes to meet departmental internal control requirements, ensuring adherence to established procedures.
Collaborate with the Internal Controls Department to identify deficiencies and develop corrective actions as necessary.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related fields.
A minimum of six years of experience in procurement, supply chain, engineering, or related commercial roles.
Proven track record of delivering significant results in complex organizations.
Experience in developing and implementing regional strategies and processes.
Certification in procurement or supply management is desirable.
Experience managing strategic relationships with external suppliers.
Strong technical knowledge of effective procurement practices, including negotiation, demand management, supplier qualification, sourcing, bidding, contracting, supplier performance management, and risk management.
Familiarity with SAP, Ariba, and other procurement systems.
Experience in heavy industrial environments, particularly in chemical manufacturing and major capital projects.
Position Impact:
