Job Summary

The Associate Director of Financial Aid will play a key role in administering federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs at the Ivy Tech Indianapolis campus. This position will focus on coordinating the Federal Work-Study program and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeals process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify student eligibility for Federal Work-Study and connect students with Ivy+ Career Link to submit resumes and apply for positions.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills and student advocacy through a positive attitude of approachability, adaptability, and problem-solving.
  • Provide individual and group counseling regarding financial assistance, explain the application process, and assist with application completion.
  • Process applications and materials related to financial assistance, including Student Aid Reports (SAR), student/parent loan applications, and verification of information.
  • Packaging financial aid awards, disbursing funds, and notifying students and agencies of disbursements.
  • Utilize governmental websites to research and resolve difficult student issues.
  • Maintain accurate records for student aid applicants and collect data for required reporting.
  • Coordinate the campus SAP appeals process and ensure consistent and accurate handling of special circumstances and dependency override requests.
  • Support the work of the Financial Aid Processing and Veteran and Military Benefits hubs.
  • Process forms for external agencies, including housing, TANF, Workforce Development, and Vocational Rehabilitation.
  • Assist in workshops and activities designed for new students, such as College Goal Sunday and High School Financial Aid Nights.
  • Attend training events to increase and maintain financial aid knowledge.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required, with 1-3 years of related work experience. Master's degree preferred.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of financial aid regulations and processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with college departments to obtain and maintain accurate information.
  • Ability to set priorities, manage time effectively, and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
