About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Director to join our team at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. As a leader in delivering high-quality patient care, you will be responsible for providing medical care and management for patients on regular wards, exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided.

  • Job Title: Medical Director
  • Estimated Salary: $135,000 - $160,000 per year

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in delivering high-quality patient care, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for working with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

About the Responsibilities

  1. Deliver High-Quality Patient Care: Provide medical care and management for patients on regular wards, exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided.
  2. Round on High-Acuity Patients: Discuss patient status with primary team and nursing staff, develop a plan, and respond to rapid response events.
  3. Lead Multidisciplinary Teams: Respond to code blue events, lead hot debriefing sessions, and communicate with primary team and nursing staff for smooth transition of care.
  4. Document Patient Care: Accurately complete documentation of patient care in the EMR and other records for compliance, billing, and regulatory standards.

About the Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited PA educational program or master's degree in nursing.
  • Licensure: Registration and licensure requirements specified by the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in acute care or intensive care clinical practice, with recent ICU internship or practicum considered.
