The University of Iowa is seeking a skilled Hospitalist to join its team at the North Liberty Campus. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive inpatient care to orthopedic patients, working closely with Internal Medicine physician hospitalists, Orthopedics, Emergency Medicine, and ancillary teams.

About the Role

This position involves overnight coverage from 6pm-6am, Sunday through Saturday. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, and possess strong clinical judgment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive care to orthopedic inpatients, collaborating with on-call physicians as needed.
  • Evaluate patients with urgent and emergent needs, working with the team to deliver timely care.
  • Facilitate admissions, discharges, and transfers, ensuring smooth transitions for patients.
  • Obtain complete health histories, perform physical exams, and document patient information accurately.
  • Participate in ongoing research and professional development, staying up-to-date with best practices in orthopedic care.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A Master's degree in Nursing or a related field (ARNP) or graduation from an accredited PA educational program (PA).
  • Current licensure to practice nursing in Iowa (ARNP) or registration with the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners (PA).
  • 1-3 years of patient care experience, preferably in a medicine, emergency medicine, or orthopedic setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
Estimated Salary Range

$120,000 - $160,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
