About the Role
We are seeking an experienced meat cutter and department specialist to join our team. As a key member of our meat department, you will engage with customers, provide product recommendations, and prepare special cuts of meat ordered by customers. Your responsibilities will include receiving, rotating, cutting, wrapping, and merchandising fresh and processed meats, as well as assisting with seafood, prepared foods, cheeses, and deli products.
Main Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
- Engage with customers, answer questions regarding meat, poultry, and seafood, and make recommendations to enhance their shopping experience.
- Cut, grind, and/or process fresh meats to company standards, ensuring quality and consistency.
- Weigh, package, wrap, and label cuts of meat, poultry, and seafood according to company packaging standards.
- Maintain the meat case, showcasing all available products, and ensure the department has an optimal level of inventory.
- Ensure the meat, seafood, prepared foods, and cheese cases are fully stocked, rotate products according to expiration dates, and follow established guidelines for disposing of damaged or expired products.
- Clean and sanitize equipment, display fixtures, and areas in the meat department, including the meat cooler, freezer, and refrigerated display cases.
Requirements
- Completion of a training program or apprenticeship is required.
- Previous meat cutting experience is necessary.
- Knowledge of automatic/hand wrapping machines is preferred.
- Age 18 and above is required.
