Overview

The Product Quality Assurance Engineer will engage in a range of engineering functions at Wausau Supply Company. Responsibilities encompass product innovation, quality assurance testing, and compliance certifications to bolster WSC's standing in the international market. This role merges a solid grounding in product innovation, regulatory compliance knowledge in the fenestration sector, and practical testing of both new and existing building products.

Key Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (not limited to)
  • Act as a subject matter expert on fenestration regulations and compliance, as well as emerging trends.
  • Participate actively in leading compliance organizations such as NFRC.
  • Strategize future product compliance for the next five years in alignment with emerging trends.
  • Coordinate and execute testing to ensure products meet regulatory standards. Develop necessary infrastructure and documentation.
  • Lead the product development and launch process for new offerings.
  • Oversee the engineering change notice process to address product requirements.
  • Manage product lifecycle and documentation maintenance.
  • Implement Design for Manufacturability (DFMA) principles.
  • Evaluate field performance and ensure product safety.
  • Engage in and potentially lead moderate project-level assignments within the designated product family or initiatives driven by design, market, or manufacturing strategies.
Qualifications

A PRODUCT QUALITY ASSURANCE ENGINEER WILL DEMONSTRATE:
  • A comprehensive understanding of Lean Principles, Problem-Solving Skills, and Manufacturing Processes.

  • Expertise in fenestration regulations and compliance.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining effective communication, particularly via email.

  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach to problem-solving.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering or a related technology degree from an accredited institution.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Engineering/Manufacturing with a focus on product design and development processes.
  • Experience in the fenestration industry, particularly with windows, doors, glass compliance, and product testing (AAMA/ASTM), as well as knowledge of material strength and proficiency in CAD and modeling tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor.
  • Proven ability to manage mid-level projects.
  • Experience working independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in organizing, planning, presenting, and facilitating projects and organizational objectives.
  • Essential MS Office skills; experience in database development and management is advantageous.
  • A self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Work Demands:
  • Job entails 5-10% travel.
  • This position will involve a 50% division of responsibilities between office and shop floor tasks.
