Your Role:

As a Senior Principal Engineer specializing in Metal Forming at Greenheck Group, you will lead and provide expert technical guidance to enhance part cost efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction through the development and implementation of innovative manufacturing processes, particularly in metal spin forming. You will also play a key role in mentoring and training team members, potentially overseeing direct reports. This position is recognized as a corporate-wide subject matter expert.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide coaching and mentorship while delivering subject matter expertise for training programs focused on advanced manufacturing techniques such as metal spinning, stamping, and drawing.
  • Develop and refine spin processes for both new and existing components, creating new procedures and supporting documentation to ensure quality, customer service, and cost management.
    • Focus areas include productivity, material efficiency, and enhanced throughput.
  • Plan, specify, and advocate for multi-year strategic capital investments, which may involve projects requiring Board of Director approval.
  • Offer technical leadership and expertise to business unit engineers and production teams regarding manufacturing processes and equipment, including the adoption of new technologies. Collaborate with equipment vendors and internal resources to identify solutions and long-term strategies.
  • Lead initiatives to identify, recommend, and validate changes that enhance manufacturability.
  • Guide product design engineering through mentorship and implementation of changes.
  • Support and lead safety, 5S, and Lean initiatives.
  • Provide mentoring and training in your area of expertise, overseeing team members indirectly or directly.
  • Manage corporate-wide and business unit projects, collaborating with various departments to ensure seamless integration across manufacturing, sales, finance, marketing, and product engineering.
  • Assist production and manufacturing efforts to optimize quality, productivity, on-time delivery, and operational efficiency, ultimately enhancing customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is mandatory.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Project Management.
  • General familiarity with SAP is advantageous.
  • Extensive experience with Lean methodologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of plant layout design.
  • Hands-on capability with hand and power tools as necessary.
  • Willingness to operate spinning machinery for training and troubleshooting purposes.
  • Knowledge of metal blanking, forming, and G-code is preferred.
  • Required familiarity with metal spinning and flow theory.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Additional Information:
  • This position will require travel to support regional and international operations.
  • Certification as an internal Lean Leader and Lean Champion is expected.
