Position OverviewThis role is a senior engineering position within the Analytics Excellence Team, part of the Research & Development Solutions organization.
The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) will be tasked with designing and implementing a hybrid cloud strategy that encompasses both public cloud (AWS) and on-premises deployments, supporting distributed software systems pertinent to clinical trials and various sectors of the organization.
This position demands high collaboration, working alongside fellow SREs, IT departments, and software engineering teams to establish environments, deploy applications, set metrics, and meet infrastructure performance and stability objectives.
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of infrastructure expertise and software engineering experience, contributing to design, development, and leadership initiatives.

- Develop automated CI/CD pipelines for both on-premises clusters and cloud environments.
- Lead engineering efforts in building business applications.
- Collaborate with engineers and leaders across the organization.
- Support product owners by translating business requirements into actionable stories.
- Facilitate cross-team exercises, including DevOps incident management.
- Oversee documentation efforts for product architecture and security compliance.
- Conduct security assessments and evaluate product readiness.
- Perform code reviews for submissions from other engineers.
- Mentor interns, apprentices, and junior engineers.
Prospective candidates are encouraged to apply if they meet most of the following qualifications:
- Experience in software design and development.
- Proficiency in Linux with the ability to configure environments using software tools.
- Experience with Docker for building, testing, and deploying containers.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes for application deployment.
- Automated provisioning experience (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
- Experience with CI/CD tools for building, testing, and deploying applications.
- Knowledge of core AWS services and basic AWS architecture best practices.
- Experience using version control systems like GitHub.
- Strong understanding of microservices and RESTful services.
- Solid grasp of relational database management systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- 5+ years of relevant collaborative software engineering experience.
- 2+ years in full-time engineering roles across at least two organizations.
- Strong foundation in computer science principles.
- In-depth understanding of the product development lifecycle.
- Experience deploying code into production using CI/CD tools.
- Prior experience leading engineering projects or teams.
- Demonstrated interest in peer mentorship.
While not required, the following qualifications will enhance a candidate's application:
- Security experience (K8s, AWS, Azure).
- Monitoring experience (Datadog).
- Experience establishing and monitoring SLOs, SLIs, and SLAs.
- Experience building RESTful APIs.
- Prior management training.
