Key Responsibilities

The Site Reliability Engineer is tasked with overseeing, evaluating, and identifying cyber events and incidents within information systems and networks under general guidance. This role involves supporting integrated, dynamic cyber defense mechanisms, coordinating, and maintaining security toolsets to facilitate organizations' continuous monitoring and ongoing authorization programs. A framework for measuring and quantifying cyber risk in the marketplace is established by this position. Security requirements are determined through the evaluation of business strategies and requirements, research into information security standards, conducting system security and vulnerability analyses, risk assessments, studying architecture/platforms, identifying integration challenges, and preparing cost estimates.

Security systems are implemented by specifying intrusion detection methodologies and equipment, directing the installation and calibration of equipment and software, preparing preventive and reactive measures, creating, transmitting, and maintaining keys, providing technical support, and completing documentation. Security systems are verified through the development and implementation of test scripts. The role also involves maintaining security by ensuring compliance with standards, policies, and procedures; conducting incident response analyses; and developing and conducting training programs.

This position is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and integration of DoD IA architectures, systems, or system components for use within computing, network, and enclave environments. It ensures that the architecture and design of development and operational systems are both functional and secure, including designs for program of record systems and special purpose processing nodes with platform IT interconnectivity.

Required Qualifications

Essential Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is highly preferred, equating to two (2) years of experience. A Master's degree in a Technical Field equates to four (4) years of experience. Degrees in Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, or similar fields will also be considered.
  • One of the following certifications is required:
    • AWS Certified Developer-Associate
    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect-Associate
    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect-Professional
    • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator-Associate
    • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKAD)
    • Elastic Certified Engineer
    • Elastic Certified Observability Engineer
  • Fourteen (14) years of experience in software development/engineering, encompassing requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in system engineering/architecture.
  • Ten (10) years of experience with products that support highly distributed, massively parallel computation needs such as Hbase, Hadoop, Accumulo, Big Table, Cassandra, Scality, etc.
  • At least ten (10) years of experience writing software scripts using scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Ruby for software automation.
  • At least four (4) years of experience managing and monitoring large Cloud Systems.
  • Experience in providing technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of complete hardware/software systems, including monitoring the technical health of a system, improving organizational processes, and implementing postmortem (failure) analysis and incident management.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is required.
  • Required skills include ElasticSearch, AWS, and System Administration or DevOps experience.
