Key ResponsibilitiesEducational Requirements:
- Associate Degree in Nursing.
Licensure and Certification:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
Department-Specific Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) within 180 days if mandated by the entity.
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) within 90 days.
Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years of recent relevant experience.
- Prior experience typically gained in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient understanding of nursing theories, concepts, and practices, along with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Familiarity with the healthcare sector, safety protocols, best practices for patient care and privacy, and current local/state/federal regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including those without medical backgrounds.
- Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize patient care and assignments while adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Basic proficiency in computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Outlook).
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, managing multiple interventions in a dynamic environment.
- Capacity to communicate and engage with team members, patients, and families in various stressful situations.
- Utilization of existing procedures and critical thinking to identify and resolve routine or complex issues.
- Commitment to safeguarding each patient's protected health information (PHI).
- Ability to foster collaborative relationships with colleagues and other healthcare professionals to meet departmental and organizational goals.
- Prioritization of tasks and adherence to established policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
Work Schedule:
Nights, Part-Time, 12-hour shifts, with variable days and every other weekend required.
