POSITION SUMMARY
The Surgical Patient Care Assistant is responsible for the planning, execution, and assessment of surgical patient care with efficiency and precision.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Educational Background:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience as a First Assistant or a minimum of one year as a surgical technician
Professional Experience: Experience in Perioperative Care
Skills and Equipment Training:
Ability to perform effectively under pressure, both independently and as part of a team, with knowledge across various nursing disciplines. Familiarity with surgical equipment in specialties such as general surgery, orthopedics, ENT, and others.
Work Environment: Experience in providing care to patients of all ages.
Physical Requirements:
- Proficient communication skills in English
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work up to twelve hours a day
- Capability to lift objects weighing up to 175 lbs, with assistance for patients weighing up to 250 lbs
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Collaborates effectively with the surgical team to ensure optimal patient care
- Ensures timely availability of necessary equipment and supplies
- Maintains a sterile environment following aseptic protocols
- Contributes to environmental control and sanitation within the operating room
- Administers medications and solutions in accordance with hospital guidelines
- Engages in cost-effective practices and accurate patient charge documentation
- Participates in staff training and educational initiatives
- Demonstrates accountability in communication and task execution
