Job Title: Host/Hostess and Order Taker

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Host/Hostess and Order Taker to join our team at Fisher Island Club. As a Host/Hostess and Order Taker, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing the flow of guests, and ensuring a seamless dining experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide warm and welcoming greetings to guests, escorting them to assigned dining areas and presenting menus
  • Use visual cues to seat guests in the bar or dining area, depending on their preference
  • Inform guests of current promotions and introduce them to their server to ensure a smooth handoff
  • Answer incoming calls to the restaurant and provide excellent service
  • Manage the flow of guests into the dining and bar areas, providing accurate wait times and ensuring a smooth experience
  • Tend to special guest needs and requests, observing their needs throughout the dining experience
  • Protect the Club and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol control policies
  • Assist dining room staff with setting and clearing tables, replenishing water, and serving beverages as needed
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Schedule dining reservations and arrange parties or special services for diners
  • Address and resolve guest complaints and issues in a professional and courteous manner
  • Assign work tasks and coordinate activities of dining room personnel to ensure prompt and courteous service to guests
  • Inspect the hostess stand and restaurant entrance to maintain cleanliness and neatness
  • Requisition menus and office supplies for wait staff
  • Monitor music levels and ensure all lights and fans are operating properly
  • Ensure the cleanliness of menus and side work is completed prior to opening
  • Answer the phone within three rings with a courteous and enthusiastic greeting
  • Follow company safety standards and practice safe working habits
  • Complete all assigned tasks

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Six months of experience in a full-service restaurant preferred
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure with all restaurant staff
  • High-quality work while unsupervised
  • Ability to follow instructions and ask questions for clarification if needed
  • Must be able to read menus
  • Must be able to articulate clear greetings and farewells to guests, as well as understand requests for assistance
  • Must be able to clearly communicate guests' needs to servers, bussers, managers, etc.
  • Must be able to hear well in a loud environment to answer the phone and respond to guest requests
  • Desire to help where needed and work as part of a team
  • Passion for providing extraordinary service

  • Flexibility to work a flexible shift, including weekends and holidays

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to walk and stand during the entire shift
  • Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, and wipe
  • Must be able to articulate clear greetings and farewells to guests
  • Must be able to understand requests for assistance
  • Must be able to carry trays or supplies (10-30 lbs.)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
  • Outside environment, exposed to heat and subject to elements and inclement weather
