Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with various departments to strategize and implement effective organizing programs.
  • Inspire and lead a committee of worker leaders, fostering their development and engagement.
  • Facilitate organizing meetings and training sessions to equip members with essential skills.
  • Create and manage a personal monthly work plan to achieve organizational goals.
  • Guide and mentor Organizers in fundamental organizing techniques, including outreach and action planning.
  • Train member leaders and coordinate member brigades to strengthen grassroots efforts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships within the community to support organizing initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and management of campaign-related records.
  • Address internal conflicts and issues within the organization in a constructive manner.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support the mission of the union.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of worker organizing, with a minimum of three to five years of relevant experience, including team leadership.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends.
  • Exceptional verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient writing and computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities, with experience working with diverse groups.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are mandatory.
  • Fluency in a second language, preferably Spanish or Amharic, is advantageous.

Compensation: SEIU 32BJ offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes employer-sponsored family health coverage, dental and vision plans, and a travel allowance for full-time employees.
