Amazon's Penetration Testing Tools Team is seeking a dedicated Cloud Security Specialist to contribute to the development and scaling of security solutions, while implementing strategies to address security vulnerabilities across the leading cloud service provider globally.

Our mission is to provide high-quality and reliable security services to our customers. Our team collaborates across AWS to execute penetration tests in an efficient, innovative, and secure manner. We aim to enhance penetration testing capabilities by allowing security professionals to concentrate on complex issues. Our focus is on creating tools and processes that help identify, monitor, and resolve potential security threats.

This role is hands-on and technical, requiring direct collaboration with AWS penetration testers, partner security teams, and administrative units to discover opportunities for improving our security framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with fellow testers to develop comprehensive guidance, including process documentation and tooling.
  • Ensure both verification of security fixes and establish scalable mechanisms for remediation verification.
  • Effectively communicate ideas in both verbal and written formats to diverse audiences, crafting narratives and strategic documents.
  • Assist in addressing customer inquiries, providing on-call support for penetration testing, verification of findings, and automation of pentest tools.

A Day in the Life:

Your primary stakeholders will include fellow security engineers, builder teams, and Application Security partners. You will evaluate new and ongoing security measures, analyze proposed solutions, and make necessary adjustments swiftly. By continuously challenging the status quo, you will identify gaps and drive innovations that can lead to significant operational enhancements for our customers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related fields, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in developing scalable automated tools using languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, Perl, or Ruby.
  • 2+ years of experience focusing on systems, network, or application security.
  • Proficiency with web protocols and Linux/Unix systems.
  • At least 1 year of professional experience in security engineering practices, including web application security and automation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field or 3+ years of equivalent technology experience.
  • Experience working on a Security Tooling team.
  • Familiarity with building in a Native AWS environment.
  • Strong understanding of web protocols and Linux/Unix architecture.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic setting.
