Job Title: Lead Program Counselor

Marrakech is seeking a skilled and compassionate Lead Program Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities and significant physical needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Model best practices in carrying out Program Counselor responsibilities.
  • Oversee the purchase of food for individuals and ensure dietary requirements are met.
  • Review grocery intake to ensure the program is stocked with appropriate food and purchases are delivered to the program site.
  • Assist the nurse in scheduling and ensuring medical appointments are fulfilled and followed up on.
  • Coordinate medication groups and ensure doctor's orders are complete with medications and data.
  • Implement daily schedules incorporating daily living skills and community experiences that reflect program goals.
  • Teach staff on duty how to implement policy, procedures, and programs, documenting this training.
  • Communicate pertinent information to all staff through group voice mails and memos.
  • Conduct daily checks of program books and third-shift medication audits to ensure documentation occurred for previous shifts.
  • Provide direct care to individuals, including medical, dietary, hygienic, behavioral supports, medication administration, and teaching programs.
  • Prepare and present reports regarding the responsible program site at cluster meetings.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment and ensure agency property is well-maintained and the home is clean, orderly, and safe.
  • Provide nighttime and weekend supervision to program staff at group homes and other homes in assigned clusters during scheduled hours.
  • Work at least one weekend shift as indirect hours and provide on-call support during the manager's days off.
  • Maintain a calendar of medical appointments, cleaning schedules, menus, and recreation.
  • Coordinate and follow up to ensure meaningful recreation and leisure activities are offered to individuals.
  • Report unsafe situations to the Program Manager in a timely manner and follow up with appropriate corrective measures.
  • Lift and transfer individuals as required, following service plans.
  • Gather items for monthly packets and submit them to the manager in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure the home is compliant with all licensing requirements, correcting and reporting non-compliance and documenting this process.
  • Implement and document behavioral and activity of daily living skills programming daily.
  • Document programs, incident reports, abuse and neglect reports, safety reports, fire drills, and other items using communication logs, nursing logs, voice mail, and other communication methods.
Requirements:
  • Valid CT Driver's License
  • Department of Developmental Services - medication certification
  • Public Service License valid for the State of Connecticut (if applicable)
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • PMT certification
