Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Correctional Program Coordinator to join our team at the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. As a key member of our Bureau of Correctional Recovery Services, you will play a vital role in facilitating life change, fostering renewed responsibility, and building opportunities for restored citizens.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in counseling and rehabilitation, with a focus on evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) skills. You will work closely with offenders in Ohio's prisons to provide alcohol and drug counseling, as well as other ancillary services, to support their recovery journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized treatment planning and coordination with other treatment services
  • Monitor attendance and participation progress of inmates in substance abuse programs
  • Review case files and terminate program participation as necessary
  • Develop and coordinate substance abuse programming for inmates
  • Facilitate support and fellowship meetings, and provide technical assistance and training to volunteers
  • Participate in program quality assurance activities, including peer utilization and clinical record reviews

Requirements:

  • Current certification or credentials in one of the following: Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor II (LCDC II), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor III (LCDC III), Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC), Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Professional Clinical Counselor (PCC), Professional Counselor (PC), Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Physician, Licensed Psychologist, Registered Nurse, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, or Licensed Independent Marriage & Family Therapist
  • Strong counseling and rehabilitation skills, with a focus on evidence-based practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
