Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Michael Page. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, integrating, testing, and evaluating opto-mechanical laser systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate autonomy and teamwork capabilities with excellent communication skills
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Collaborate across disciplines to design, integrate, test, and evaluate opto-mechanical laser systems
  • Provide practical engineering support for opto-mechanical laser system development and testing
  • Create and evaluate fiber optic laser delivery systems
  • Develop and test assembly and alignment fixtures
  • Adapt existing test fixtures as needed to gather required data
  • Conduct laser system performance assessments, including beam profile, energy stability, pulse width, wavelength, and propagation
  • Execute longevity tests for opto-mechanical systems and components
  • Offer design feedback based on test outcomes
  • Support fellow engineers in creating new laser subsystems
  • Compose assembly instructions and assist manufacturing with initial production and troubleshooting
  • Draft Engineering Change Orders to enhance existing product designs and resolve issues
  • Participate in design reviews, offering critical insights on opto-mechanical assemblies
Requirements:
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in physics or related field; Ph.D. preferred
  • Hands-on research experience with laser-based light sources
  • 8-10 years of opto-mechanical engineering in medical device industry
  • Proficiency in hardware-based product development
  • Expertise in opto-mechanical and laser systems
  • ZEMAX knowledge beneficial
  • Basic machining skills advantageous
