CONMED Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer to join our Research and Development team in Westborough, Massachusetts.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing embedded software for various medical platforms, applying engineering design principles to sustaining projects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and support advanced surgical devices and powered instruments used in orthopedic and arthroscopic surgery products.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop system and board level requirements, architecture, conceptual designs, design verification protocols, test plans, test reports, and manufacturing documentation.
- Design, develop, and troubleshoot electrical and electro-mechanical modules, circuit boards, and systems.
- Manage FPGA development, simulation, verification, and documentation.
- Conduct/participate in design reviews, present results of formal analysis, generate project progress reports, and investigation summaries.
- Participate in medical compliance and safety certification for various electrical systems.
- Work with cross-functional development teams comprised of electrical, mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers as well as project leaders, program managers, marketing, and production personnel in the development of new medical equipment and sustaining engineering activities.
- Manage sub-projects and provide technical oversight of internal and external resources.
- Design and coordinate the construction of manufacturing test fixtures for production manufacturing.
- Perform sustaining engineering activities and continued support for existing products.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or a related field.
- 7+ years of relevant work experience for Senior Engineer, 10+ years for Principal Engineer.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior medical device experience.
- Strong background in embedded real-time system design.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Track record of completing development projects on-time and on-budget with incremental deliverables.
- Hands-on experience in an electronics lab environment and experience using basic test equipment.
- Demonstrated technical leadership of solutions with the ability to achieve results in a complex environment while managing multiple critical projects.
- Working knowledge of CAD tools, including Schematic Capture and Layout (OrCad, Allegro, Altium, or equivalent).
- 5-7 years' experience designing and implementing 8, 16, or 32-bit embedded processors in a commercial/medical environment (ARM7 or Cortex preferred).
- Working knowledge of C or C++ programming in an embedded environment.
- Serial communication experience (UART, I2C, and SPI).
- Verilog/VHDL and latest FPGA architectures.
- ARM/Cortex.
- LVDS, TDMS, Video, HDMI, DisplayPort.
- IEC 60601, RoHS & WEEE standards.
