Radiological Controls Engineer 5 Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiological Controls Engineer 5 to join our team at HII's Newport News Shipbuilding division. As a key member of our Engineering department, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing nuclear equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop nuclear equipment and systems
  • Conduct research on new materials of special interest in nuclear reactors
  • Conduct studies related to the detection and control of radiation and radioactive contaminants
  • Study nuclear fuel cycle to define most economical uses of material and safest means of waste products disposal
  • Recommend various technology options or approaches for system, processes, facility or program improvements in terms of safety, performance, efficiency or costs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 14 years of relevant exempt experience or Master's Degree and 12 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 9 years of experience
