Job Overview

The Nurse Care Coordinator is responsible for managing initiatives related to evaluating the extent of injuries reported by workers. This role involves reviewing medical records in CareMC, ensuring the accuracy of medical information, and assessing the prescribed treatment for work-related injuries. The Nurse Care Coordinator acts as a nursing consultant, aligning with the objectives of the Claim Management department at CorVel Healthcare Corporation.

This position is remote.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engages in telephonic communication with injured workers, employers, and healthcare providers to gather treatment plans, secure medical documentation, and determine if the injured worker has resumed work.
  • Maintains comprehensive documentation within the claims system, focusing on medical conditions, treatment plans, and return-to-work statuses.
  • Guides callers to the appropriate medical and claims resources.
  • Identifies and promptly communicates urgent situations regarding treatment or patient conditions to the claims team.
  • Serves as a nursing consultant to the claims team.
  • Evaluates necessary medical follow-ups and provides recommendations to the claims team, collaborating closely to identify potential issues that may require further attention or additional services.
  • Adheres to production standards and specific handling guidelines for the Nurse Care Coordinator role.
  • Undertakes additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Understanding of fundamental concepts and practices in early intervention within the Workers' Compensation field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
  • Proficient in managing multiple complex projects and competing priorities under pressure while maintaining a strong customer service focus.
  • Competent in using MS Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, time management abilities, and written communication proficiency.
  • Detail-oriented with a results-driven mindset.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 2 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current, unrestricted RN Licensure in the state of residence and practicing states must be maintained throughout employment.

SALARY RANGE:

CorVel employs a market-based approach to compensation, and salary ranges may vary based on location. Pay rates are determined by factors such as federal, state, and local minimum wage laws, geographic location differentials, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and market conditions. Salary ranges are subject to change.

For roles with varying levels (I, II, III, Senior, Lead, etc.), new hires may be placed at a different level based on assessments during the interview process, considering experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the position. This level may influence the salary range, and any adjustments will be discussed during the offer process.

Salary Range: $58,282 – $93,870
