Job Description

Position: Facilities Maintenance Supervisor/ Bilingual

Overview:

The role involves providing engineering support in managing the design, execution, installation, repair, and maintenance of equipment and facilities within the food production sector. You will be responsible for reviewing operational procedures to ensure that your team has the necessary resources to perform their tasks efficiently and within budget constraints. Additionally, you will cultivate relationships with staff and contractors while ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Knowledgeable about various machinery utilized in food processing (experience in welding is advantageous).
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on all equipment to guarantee optimal functionality.
  • Develop and implement maintenance protocols.
  • Address machinery issues during production interruptions and downtimes promptly and safely.
  • Schedule repairs and assess cost estimates for maintenance work.
  • Manage inventory of equipment and collaborate with the Purchasing department for supply orders.
  • Identify weaknesses in current mechanical operations and suggest enhancements.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regular bending, twisting, and lifting activities.
  • Occasional kneeling required.
  • Capability to lift significant weights independently.
  • Extended periods of standing.
  • Ability to navigate through confined spaces.
  • Work in warm conditions with flour dust present.
  • Operate in a noisy production setting.
  • Willingness to occasionally work extended hours.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mechanic in the Food Manufacturing or Bakery sector is preferred.
  • An engineering background is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • General understanding of plumbing, welding, electrical systems, gas lines, and motors.
  • Basic familiarity with flour and corn tortilla production machinery and processes is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is advantageous.
  • Exceptional organizational and leadership capabilities.
  • Able to maintain focus and perform well under pressure.
  • Experience in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Prior experience in a maintenance management role or similar leadership position.
  • Commitment to following and enforcing safety protocols.
  • Highly organized.
